The Franklin County DUI Task Force is planning a sobriety checkpoint in the western part of Franklin County.

The checkpoint will be in operation between 9 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday on West Broad Street west of Georgesville Road (Click for Map view) in Franklin Township.

It will be held in conjunction with a separate checkpoint operated by Columbus police.

The task force says all of the agencies involved are committed to raising public awareness and have partnered to address the dangers associated with impaired driving.

The Task Force wants to impress upon those who will be consuming alcohol to plan for a designated driver or make other arrangements.

While checkpoints are the public face of enforcement efforts, they are often held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols.
