Columbus Police say they expect to release body camera footage Monday from a weekend altercation where an officer punched a man in the neck.

A bystander's video of the Friday evening incident on Stanley Avenue shows a man confronting an officer who tried to stop a woman with children from entering a home.

Another officer then shoved the man before punching him.

A weekend tweet by Columbus Police says Interim Police Chief Tom Quinlan reviewed the body camera video and a full investigation will follow.

The tweet says a preliminary review shows the officer appeared to be protecting bystanders during a call for service where guns were fired.
